A Scene From My Screenplay Based on the Song "Rocky Raccoon"
I am in rewrites for a gritty Deadwoodesque screenplay based on the Beatles’ song, “Rocky Raccoon,” which is in pre-production. Below is a sample that is one of the few scenes that isn’t just a string of profanities.
INT. OLD WEST SALOON SOMEWHERE IN THE BLACK HILLS OF SOUTH DAKOTA. NIGHT
ROCKY RACCOON walks into the SALOON. He is greeted by MAGILL, a very pretty human lady.
ROCKY
Hello, ma’am. Nice to meet you. I’m Rocky. Rocky Raccoon.
MAGILL
Nice to meet you. My name is Magill.
ROCKY
It’s a pleasure, Magill.
MAGILL
I call myself, Lil.
ROCKY
Now, that sure is a pretty name. Howdy, Lil.
MAGILL
Call me Nancy.
ROCKY
What is wrong with you?
MAGILL
Strange thing for a raccoon in a ten gallon hat to say.
ROCKY
That’s it. I’m going back to my room to read the Gideon’s Bible.
FADE TO BLACK
The above is a satire, which, frankly, should be obvious.
